Release and sales status

A signed, licence-gated Windows release is available. Licences can be bought from your account; creating an account alone does not issue a desktop licence. See the Terms of sale and licence.

Account data

Registration is free and independent of purchases. You can create an account with your first name, last name, email address and password, activate it through a link sent to that email, sign in, reset a forgotten password and manage credentials in your private account area. No invitation, selected plan or payment is required. Email confirmation and request limits protect account access.

Registration and credential changes send the relevant name, email, password, activation hash or confirmation code over HTTPS to the Frame Witness API on Cloudflare and its Supabase authentication provider. Names are stored as account profile metadata and are not proof of identity or licence entitlement. Passwords are handled by that provider; Frame Witness does not store them in its order or support database or intentionally log credential payloads. Authentication providers may retain technical records under their service settings.

The existing authentication project is shared with the operator's other applications. Changing this identity's email or password also affects applications that use that same account. Frame Witness orders, licences and support requests are held separately in Cloudflare D1 and linked to the verified user ID, so changing email does not transfer them to another user.

The activation email link carries a one-use verification hash in its URL fragment. The page removes the fragment before making requests and submits the hash only when you select Activate account. Session access tokens stay in memory, not in a URL, cookie or local storage. Closing or reloading the page clears that local session. Sign-out requests termination of the provider session; previously issued access tokens may remain valid until their normal expiry. Signing out does not delete the provider account. Creating an account does not subscribe you to promotional email or grant paid product features.

Support stores your request reference, account ID, topic, subject, message, time, status and any operator reply in the dedicated database. The operator can access these requests to respond. Do not include credentials, access codes, private media or case evidence. Order and licence records are kept for 10 years as accounting records. You can ask for your account and support requests to be deleted by writing to the support address; we delete them manually and keep only the records the law requires.

If you believe your data has been handled unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it), or with the supervisory authority of the EU country where you live or work.

Activation codes and the free trial

Licences, the free quick scan and the free trial are bound to a computer with the activation code shown in Frame Witness under Licence. You paste it in your account yourself. Its first part is the installation code: a SHA-256 hash of a random secret that Frame Witness creates on your computer and keeps protected by Windows for your Windows user. From version 1.0.14 it is followed by a machine code: two one-way hashes, one derived from the computer's firmware UUID and one from the Windows installation ID. The identifiers themselves never leave your computer, and the hashes are specific to Frame Witness.

When you start the free trial, the Frame Witness API stores in its dedicated database the trial reference, your account ID, the installation code, the machine code, and the trial's start and end times. To give the trial once per person and per computer, it keeps these codes and your account ID as used-trial markers, together with a SHA-256 hash of your normalised email address (lower case, without +tags; for Gmail without dots); the address itself is not stored there. While a trial runs, Frame Witness sends its trial file (the trial reference, the installation code and the machine code) over HTTPS to the Frame Witness API on Cloudflare about twice a day to renew it; like any web request, this reveals your IP address to Cloudflare. Nothing about cases, media or files is sent. When the trial ends, the API can return the free quick scan file of your account for that computer.

Purpose and legal basis: delivering the licence, free scan or trial you asked for (contract, art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and preventing repeated free trials (legitimate interest, art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). The trial records are kept for up to 5 years after the trial ends, also if the account is deleted, then removed; you can object or ask for access or deletion at the support address. Frame Witness also asks the Frame Witness API for its public prices and asks GitHub for the latest release when it starts; those requests carry no account or case data. Offers

Halloween offer, until 6 November 2026 at 23:59 Rome time (CET): Professional €235, Lab €580 and Organization €900, applicable taxes included. Each reduction is stated against the lowest price applied in the 30 days before the offer began, which is the launch price: €472, €1,160.70 and €1,802.30, so each price is at least 50% lower (50.2%, 50.0% and 50.1%). The Halloween offer replaces the launch offer; offers are never combined. A checkout opened in the last 30 minutes of the offer can still be completed at the offer price for 30 minutes. After the offer, the standard prices of €590, €1,590 and €2,690 apply. Optional renewals are excluded.

Launch offer: launch prices applied from the start of paid availability on 3 October 2026 at 11:55 UTC until the Halloween offer replaced them. The standard prices shown next to them had not been charged in previous sales.

Sign in to your account and open Support to send an account, licence, technical or company-deployment question. Recorded requests and operator replies appear there. No attachments are accepted and no response time is guaranteed. You can also email framewitness@mail.getcertsprint.com. Email enquiries are forwarded through Cloudflare Email Routing to the operator’s Microsoft Outlook inbox. Send product questions only; do not include credentials, private media or case evidence.

Evidence stays local

Recovered media are examined on your workstation. Do not send case files or private evidence through this website. Account access is separate from local forensic analysis.
